3. What is Inner Truth?

We are all born possessing Inner Truth. It is a primal, cellular “memory” that lives throughout our body. Over time, we lose connection with—or stop paying attention to—this memory. Inner Truth can also be described as Common Sense, which is the combination of outer senses (taste, smell, sight, hearing, and touch) and inner senses (“something doesn’t feel right,” a gut reaction, something “smelling or feeling fishy,” an unseen or sudden impetus to act or react a certain, unexplainable way). When we are able to marry these outer and inner senses together, the result is Cosmic Harmony, Good Fortune, Easily Done, and Happily Ever Afters.

Although we are born with Common Sense, we are quickly engulfed by images, words, and relationships. We are influenced by our family dynamics, happily pressured by our social circles, educated at school, swayed by the media, and the list goes on! Many of these influencers were themselves unconsciously influenced. As a result, some of our thoughts and beliefs are not our own. Where did they come from? They came from the Collective Ego: widely held beliefs whose primary goal is to silence our Inner Truth! Only now do we know that we don’t have to accept them all. Some influences have been helpful. We can keep them! Others have not. We can let them go!

Influencers will tell you it’s your “thoughts” or your “brains” that are your only source of wisdom, power, co-creation, or strength. For example, “What do you THINK about…?” Other dangerous ideas and phrases are “Truth can’t be found,” “Truth can only be found from a spiritual guide,” and “Truth only through knowledge.” They are dangerous because they continue to prevent our Common Sense from being honored as important aspects of our self. But when we start to recognize our Common Sense and allow it to be the primary player in our ability to perceive, we can reach a new degree of clarity—one that’s only possible with our Inner Truth.

Not everyone’s Inner Truth is the same, and we have the ability to energize others’ Inner Truths with our own.

So, although others may find “holes” in our defenses or resist our Inner Truth, connect with your Common Sense and stay true to IT. As Transformation occurs, you will find that you have become more and more your own reliable guide and your life can be defended and supported by the Cosmos.

Situations also have an Inner Truth

There are two kinds of Inner Truth. The first is the Inner Truth within our self. The second kind of Inner Truth is that which is found within a situation.

The Inner Truth of any situation is unique and cannot be based on its external appearance. This is because a situation is based on the sum of all moments leading up to it. Additionally, the Truth of a situation contains the private thoughts and actions of each person involved. In other words, your private thoughts and actions aren’t private.

Sometimes, when it all feels too big, too heavy, or too complicated, all we can do is stay true to our Inner Truth.

(And sometimes, when it all feels too wonderful, too peaceful, or too easy, all we can do is stay true to our Inner Truth, too.)

In your Journal

What does your Common Sense feel like? Remember that Common Sense is the combination of the inner and outer senses, and that we may need a lot of practice to recognize it, and even more practice to trust it and follow it.
